In my early 20s, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.
What at the time, seemed like a life sentence of fatigue and flu-like symptoms, became a gift to me.
I realised that by supporting my thyroid, I would forever give my body the gift of vitality, great sleep, and a healthy weight.
Many people today are walking around completely and utterly exhausted.
I believe this is one of the key reasons we have so many overweight and obese people. And a the main reason The Australian Obesity statistics rise as we get older.
Today, I thought I’d share a bit with you about the thyroid.
I led one of the leading Thyroid Treatment Centres in Australia for nearly four years (before starting my clinic), supporting more than 1000 patients annually using a Natural Thyroid Support Protocol, that saw us creating amazing results.
Why Could it Be Your Thyroid?
In 1976, the World Health Medical Board changed the clinical based doctor treatment to pathology based treatment.
The reason this is important, is because the standard blood tests today only cover 3 of the 7 key indicator markers for the thyroid.
Many doctors before from the 1970s forward, would provide thyroid treatment medication when a patient came in with symptom-based complaints. Like sluggishness, brain fog, weight gain. This happened in the clinical assessment.
Today, our doctors only have 10 to 15 minutes to spend with us, and the reliance on blood tests has become imperative to the doctors.
But, many early indicator signs, like weight gain, brain fog, and fatigue, do not show up on the standard thyroid tests as the range is there to detect dangerously high or dangerously low test scores.
Why are the Early Signs of an Under-active Thyroid?
___ Weight Gain, especially around the middle.
___ Poor Memory- Sleeplessness- Fatigue (often leads to chronic fatigue)
___ Hair Loss
___ Brittle Nails
___ Depression
___ Brain Fog
___ Craving Caffeine
___ Craving Alcohol
When to Get Your Thyroid Checked?
If you suffer from 3 or more, there’s a good chance that you have an early slowing thyroid.
Most women experience a combination of the symptoms listed from age 26.
It’s very common for women to have a thyroid related challenge around major hormonal cycles, like pregnancy, post pregnancy, during menopause or perimenopause.
If not dealt with, I’ve often seen women in their 70s and 80s with extreme fatigue, struggling with day to day life, or even worse, needing care and support early on because they simply don’t have energy.
Why our clinic looks at Energy & the Thyroid First?
Your energy tells us a story about your cells and your cellular health.
If your energy is not where it’s supposed to be it’s the first early warning sign that something isn’t right.
Your thyroid is like the metabolic highway for your body. It controls how fast and how slow your metabolism moves. Hence the on flow effect of fatigue, brain fog, and weight gain.Everything slows down.
What Can You Do about it Now?
If you are feeling 3 or more of the symptoms listed here, there’s a good chance that you may be suffering from a hormone imbalance.
This is your body’s way of saying “Things are slowing down, I need some help”.
We run an Energy & Cellular Scan.
